If you have the new Block Editor in WordPress, you can change the author of a published post so quickly. First, you have to go to the post by selecting the option ‘Posts,’ then ‘All Posts,’ and selecting the relevant title. You have to select the tab ‘Document’ in the sidebar of the post editor. You should notice the option ‘Author’ following a dropdown menu under the heading ‘Status & Visibility.’
Now, you have to select any author’s name with an account on your site. You can’t create new authors from this screen, but there are other ways to add new authors. After selecting the name of the new author, you have to select ‘Update’ so that the change becomes live.
If you have the Classic Editor, the process will be a little different. Firstly, you have to expand the menu ‘Screen Options’ above the editor. Under boxes, there’s a checkbox next to ‘Author,’ you have to select the checkbox.
Now you have to scroll down to the editor’s bottom. Here, you will see a dropdown menu like the Block Editor. You have to select the new author’s name for the post and select the button ‘Update’ to make it official.
You can also change the author of a post using the function ‘Quick Edit’ in the list ‘Posts’; this process doesn’t rely on what editor you are using. You have to select the option ‘Quick Edit’ under the title of the post and select the new author from the dropdown menu and select the ‘Update’ button.
This process works best if you have one post requiring to reattribute as the original author left the website. We hope these instructions have been useful to you.
